Flu Vaccinations- Now Available (FluMist Included!)

Flu vaccinations are now available at Rozelle Total Health.

As we move into the cooler months, it’s a good time to protect yourself and your family against seasonal influenza. The flu is more than just a bad cold- it can lead to serious illness, particularly for young children, older adults, and those with underlying health conditions.

Annual vaccination is the most effective way to reduce your risk and help protect the wider community.

Who should get the flu vaccine?

The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over.

You may be eligible for a free government-funded flu vaccine if you are:

• Aged 65 years and over
• Pregnant
• A child aged 6 months to under 5 years
• Living with certain chronic medical conditions

Cost

For patients who are not eligible for a government-funded vaccine, the standard flu vaccine (injection) is available for $20.

FluMist (Nasal Spray) – A needle-free option for children

We are pleased to offer FluMist, a needle-free flu vaccine administered as a nasal spray.

FluMist is a live attenuated vaccine, meaning it contains a weakened form of the influenza virus to stimulate an immune response.

FluMist is:

• Funded under the National Immunisation Program for children aged 2– under 5 years
• Available privately for children aged 5–18 years (Cost of $48)

This option can be particularly helpful for children who feel anxious about needles.

FluMist is not recommended for:

• People who are immunocompromised
• Children with severe asthma

Our GPs and nurses can help determine whether FluMist or the standard flu vaccine is the most suitable option for your child.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be safely given at the same appointment.

If you’re due for a COVID-19 booster, you’re welcome to have both vaccines together for convenience, or we can space them out depending on your preference.
