What is RSV?
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common respiratory virus. While it often presents like a mild cold, it can lead to more serious complications such as pneumonia, particularly in older adults and young children.
Expanded eligibility in NSW
We are pleased to share that the NSW Government has expanded eligibility for the RSV vaccine.
The vaccine is now fully funded for:
- Adults aged 75 years and older
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 60–74 years
Already had an RSV Vaccine?
RSV vaccination for older adults is currently recommended as a single dose. People who have already received an RSV vaccine are not currently recommended to receive another dose at this time.
Why vaccination matters
For those at higher risk, RSV can lead to significant illness and hospitalisation. Vaccination helps reduce the risk of severe disease and complications.
