FAQ

Do you take walk-in appointments?

We are an appointment based practice. This means an appointment must be booked in order to see one of our practitioners. You can do this via our online booking system or by calling us on 02 9087 4600. If you'd like to be seen at an earlier time or date, please speak to our reception team and request to be added to the cancellation list. If you are experiencing an emergency we advise you to contact 000.

Is there an out of pocket cost for my consultation?

We are a privately billing practice. An out of pocket cost should be expected for each consultation. Please note: our practitioners are sole traders within this practice. This means that they have sole discretion around the fees they charge. From time to time a doctor may make an arangement with you regarding your fees/accounts. This arrangement is with that doctor only and does not translate to other practitioners within the practice.

We do our best to minimise your out of pocket health care expenses by practicing proactive and collaborative care. If you and your family require frequent visits, your out of pocket costs are reduced by the medicare safety net, meaning you get a larger rebate from Medicare once you have hit the safety net threshold. Read about your Medicare Threshold here.

Why is my doctor running late?
We value your time and try our best to be on time for your appointment. Our practice believes in a holistic approach to our patients' care. This sometimes means that a 'simple' appointment can become much more complicated once we scratch beneath the surface, and that appointment can run over the aloted time. There are also occasions where we are caught up dealing with a medical emergency which can throw out a whole day - these are unavoidable and we ask for your understanding. Our reception team endeavours to make contact with booked patients once a doctor falls behind.

There are a number of ways that you can help us to run on time.

  1. Please book a long appointment if you have a complicated matter or a number of smaller matters to discuss in your appointment. Rest assured you will only be billed for the time you need - better to allow more time than less.
  2. If you have been asked to book a 30min appointment for a follow up - do not take a 15 min slot because that is the first available. Talk with reception if you are having trouble finding a suitable appointment time - with a bit of notice we can work with you to fit you in without making the doctor late for others.
  3. Arrive on time for your appointment.
  4. Declare your full list of concerns at the start of your appointment so the doctor can manage the allotted time efficiently
Do I need an appointment for a repeat prescription/referral?
RTH has an online request system for patients who require a repeat prescription or referral. You must have attended an appointment with your practitioner in the past 6 months in order to access this feature. Fees apply. See terms and conditions here.
Is there parking on site?
There is 2 hour free street parking available along Darling Street and surrounding streets. We do have onsite disabled parking which is located at the back of the building. Please make yourself known to reception if you have parked there.
Do I need an appointment for a blood test?
RTH utilizes Douglass Hanly Moir (DHM) as our on site pathology provider. If you have a pathology request form from your GP, you do not need to make a booking for regular blood tests. If you are requiring a fasting GTT, please phone DHM on 02 8650 1516 to schedule an appointment.
Who owns my medical records at Rozelle Total Health?

According to the NSW Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act), medical records are owned by the clinic that creates and maintains them. At Rozelle Total Health, we are responsible for the secure storage and management of your health records. While you do not own the physical record, you have the right to access the information it contains.

Why is there a $25 administration fee for transferring my medical records to another clinic?

Transferring medical records involves several steps to ensure your information is delivered securely and accurately:

  1. GP Review: Your GP reviews your records to ensure no sensitive information that could cause harm if improperly shared is released.
  2. File Preparation: Depending on the file size, your records are burned to a DVD, saved to a USB drive or exported and sent securely via electronic means.
  3. Secure Delivery: Records are sent either via Registered Post or via secure electronic means by our administrative staff.

The $25 fee helps cover the cost of time, materials, and secure handling required for this process, as allowed under the HRIP Act.

What are my rights regarding access to my medical records?

Under the NSW Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002:

  • You have the right to access your health information.
  • Clinics can charge a reasonable fee for providing copies or allowing inspection of your records.
  • Access must be provided without unreasonable delay or expense.

If you're experiencing financial hardship, please let us know — we may be able to reduce the fee.

Are there alternative options for accessing my health records?

Yes! If you prefer, we can:

  • Fax a patient health summary to another clinic at no charge.
  • With your consent, upload your health records to your MyGov account as a PCEHR (Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record) for easy access by you or your healthcare providers.

Where can I learn more about my privacy rights?

You can refer to the full NSW Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 on the NSW Legislation website.
